Preparations are underway across Suffolk's councils to axe gatherings for meetings, as two scheduled events are axed.

On Monday afternoon, council chief executives from Suffolk were among more than 300 briefed by Robert Jenrick, secretary of state for housing, communities and local government, in which he pledged to give councils the support they need to tackle the situation.

A headmaster has vigorously defended his school after a report claimed more than 5,600 Suffolk youngsters are being taught in 'inadequate' schools, including one on the Shotley peninsula.

Shotley primary school was named among a list of 19 rated Inadequate by Ofsted. However, since the inspection in 2017, the school in Shotley has been taken on by Asset Education trust and considered locally as having vastly improved.

Kidzone will not open Monday

Shotley Kidzone will not open tomorrow morning after one of their children showed signs of contracting Covid-19.

The 'Outstanding' pre and after school wrap around child care facility, took the action not to open and undergo a deep clean after parents of the child advised managers their child had been to the doctors with symptoms and had been told it was a probable case of Coronavirus.
