Councillors warn not to expect too much when parking enforcement changes hands

Residents have been warned not to expect too much when Civil Parking Enforcement (CPE) is implemented on the Shotley peninsula, and beyond, from April 6

Babergh District Council's Cabinet today approved its Joint Area Parking Management Plan, working in conjunction with Mid-Suffolk, West Suffolk, Ipswich Borough and Suffolk County, councils, which is a step towards adopting CPE next month.

GP and Staff Training afternoons:

Our next training afternoons will be on Thursday 2nd April and Wednesday 6th May. The practice will be open for patients to come in to collect/drop off prescriptions and book appointments/make enquiries at reception. However, there will be no clinical staff on site and our telephone lines will be switched over to the out of hours' service on these afternoons to allow for staff training. Hounds ran amok in Pin Mill

A hunt master has apologised after residents in a small peninsula hamlet were left shaken, shocked and angry as horses and hounds caused havoc down its narrow lanes.

Home owners alleged hounds were out of control, horses were being ridden at dangerous speeds forcing people to take refuge in their houses, while pets ran away scared as the Suffolk and Essex Hunt went down Hollow Lane and into Church Road.

Suffolk's community building of the year hosts the Shotley auction

An important and popular fund-raising auction will go ahead, despite concerns countrywide of people gathering at public events, due to Coronavirus.

Shotley Village Hall Management Committee decided to continue as usual, with lots accepted tomorrow (Thursday) public viewing on Friday and the actual auction Saturday morning, which attracts between 75 -100 people, after considering all factors and advice about dealing with Covid-19.
