Shotley Kidzone will not open tomorrow morning after one of their children showed signs of contracting Covid-19.

The 'Outstanding' pre and after school wrap around child care facility, took the action not to open and undergo a deep clean after parents of the child advised managers their child had been to the doctors with symptoms and had been told it was a probable case of Coronavirus.

The youngster has gone into self-isolation at home and there have been no other reports of anyone else at Kidzone showing Covid-19 symptoms so far.

Kidzone manger Therasa Butcher issued a statement saying: "We have taken advice from Public Health England as we have had a family contact us, who have recently been advised by a doctor after stating their child have symptoms of corona virus. The doctor suggested 'PROBABLE Case of Corona Virus.'; and recommended they self isolate for seven days and inform the school and settings that they have attended.

"We have been advised to closed with immediate effect in order for us to undergo a deep clean.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you."

Kidzone takes in children mainly from Shotley and Chelmondiston, with there from other peninsula villages attending.
