Former manager Marc Rowland resigned midway through the season following a dispute with the league, that still have to be fully resolved, but he did not want the Shotley Rose team to be sanctioned, while formal action continues.

Ryan Scutcher has hailed his underdogs Shotley Rose side after they secured a Junior Cup final place with a 3-0 win against Gainsborough at Whitton Sport's Centre today.

It was more than fitting that Hayden Catchpole hit a hat trick as Woolverstone United clinched promotion to Division One for the first time in the club's history in its centenary season.

Catchpole, known as 'H' among his teammates, produced a second half performance in front of goal that was the bee's knees, cat's whiskers, and dog's what's its, to ensure Woolverstone secured their highest ever position in the Ipswich and Suffolk League in 100 years.

Despite calls for Ipswich Town's Women's FA Cup quests final tie against Super League side West Ham to be played at Portman Road, Tractor Girls' boss Joe Sheehan insisted there was never any doubt that the match would take place Felixstowe's Goldstar Ground.

Sunday's game, which will be shown live on BBC's red button, is a 1,750 capacity sell out and there is no doubt there would have been an even bigger crowd had it been staged at Portman Road but Sheehan wants to wring every inch of advantage out of playing at the side's regular home ground.

Woolverstone boss Clive Catchpole will need to lift his title chasing side again this week after promotion was cruelly snatched away from them at Hazlewoods.

Visiting Cockfield controversially netted a late winner with the home defenders convinced the ball was a foot or so over the byline, but they didn't play the whistle and Alfie Bullett danced round keeper and captain Luke Sibbons to tap in.

Suffolk FA have launched an investigation after Woolverstone United's game at Ipswich Athletic was abandoned last Saturday after the referee feared he was going to be physically attacked by the home contingent.

Title-chasing Woolverstone were goalless against bottom club Ipswich in the second division Macron Suffolk & Ipswich League at Whitton's King George V playing fields, when the game was called off.
