The owners of controversial Shotley Caravan Park have moved to add 26 new homes to their Gate Farm site.

Countrywide Park Homes have applied to Babergh District Council for a Lawful Development Certificate for a proposed use of land to station 26 static caravans for permanent residential occupation.

Peninsula patients are being advised to continue using their local dispensaries after warnings of a potential medication shortage at Holbrook and Shotley surgeries.

Difficulties in getting certain types of medicine is part of a national problem, which is being put down to a variety of issues in the supply line.

A Holbrook Academy student has gone into isolation as a precaution against the Coronavirus following a half-term holiday in northern Italy with her parents.

The year seven pupil returned on Monday but went home after a few hours and went into self isolation with the family, although none have shown any symptoms of the virus now identified as Covid 19.

A leading peninsula football coach is broadly in support of a ban on young players heading the ball but has called on the Suffolk FA to set out clear guidelines.

The FA issued a statement stating children of primary school age would be banned from heading a football in training, and youngsters between 12 – 16 would be subjected to a graduated approach, but no specific guidelines have been sent to coaches yet.

BUDGET PLANNING

Fed up volunteers have vowed to get tough on vandals attacking play equipment and the pavilion in Chelmondiston.

The offenders took their lives in their hands by trying to cut through a conduit protecting live electric wires, caused damage to the roof of the pavilion and tried to destroy part of the children's play area.
