One of the world's largest bird protection groups is calling on everyone on the Shotley Peninsula that cares about the environment to petition South Suffolk MP James Cartlidge to speak up for them in Parliament.
A protected area on the foreshore to the Stour Estuary between Shotley and Erwarton, and across to Wrabness in Essex, is managed by the RSPB, and a large swathe of the peninsula is part of the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Shotley Parish Council is pressing ahead with its plans to destroy wildlife habitat to plant some fruit tree, using taxpayers' money.
The council went against advice from various experts to clear a large area of scrub and brambles at Heritage Woods, between Lower Harlings and Shotley Cliffs, which was home to endangered species of insects, various birds (some quite rare) and bats.
A working group is to be set up looking at ways of easing the traffic chaos coming on and off the Shotley peninsula and other areas around Ipswich.
The task force, led by Suffolk County Council's cabinet, will be tasked with looking at the Bourne Bridge roundabout, linking the B1456 and A137, and junction 56 on the A14 at Wherstead, other key junctions.

Ipswich Town Football Club has joined the drive to get more youngsters active, becoming the £80,000 Active Schools project's first ambassador.
Launched in July last year by Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils, in partnership with NHS West Suffolk and NHS Ipswich and East Suffolk clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) and supported by Active Suffolk; the three-year Active Schools project aims to increase the number of people taking part in sport and physical activity.
