Shotley's Geta Britain internal basketball star laura Caesar enjoyed mixed fortunes in the Maxibasketball World Championships in Argentina over the past week.

Competing in the Women's over 50s, Laura's Great Britain finished second in their group after beating Argentina A 37-35, with Laura scoring from a rebound in the dying seconds to secure victory.

GB had narrowly lost 45-44 to Chile A in their competition opener, so the win was vital to progress in Mar De La Plata, Buenos Aries.

Laura's side then thrashed Argentina D 61 - 40 in the Plate semi-final to play Brazil in their final. and finish tenth overall out of 2o teams in the Women's over-50s category.

However, Laura also tasted success off the court.

The dispensary manager had called for the nets at the Lloyd Road multi-sports court to be replaced just as she was heading out to Argentina.
