Impotent Imps flop at home to Thetford
Brantham's appalling record continued as they lost 1-0 at the Leisure Centre to Thetford in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division.
A early Thetford goal due to Brantham losing the ball in midfield, was enough to give the visitors victory and help them get back to winning ways after successive defeats and keep them in third.
A relatively young Brantham side were not helped by losing Louis Bloom to the sin bin for 10 minutes for dissent just before half-time.
In typical Brantham fashion though, a club official blamed referee Richard Baker for the sin bin decision and applying the law.
The youngsters were brought in mainly due to the unavailability of senior players, needed to help them step up, due to a row over wages discrepancies and the subsequent loss of player-manager Pip Boyland and his assistant Alex Drennan
The Imps have failed to score in six of their past seven games, all of which they have lost, and Brantham have not even picked up a point in 2024.
They have also been knocked out of the League Challenge Cup to a lower division club and are going nowhere in the league, although they are safe from relegation due to Norwich United packing in.
The only chink of light was the young players coming through from the development squad managed by Dan Hart who was promoted under Boyland.
His under 23s side have reached the semi-final of the Suffolk Reserve Cup and will meet Stowmarket U23s at AFC Sudbury's MEL Ground, on Friday March 8 with an 8pm kick off.
If successful in that tie, the young Imps will play the winners between Beccles Town Res who meet Walsham-le-Willows U23s at Badingham Road, home of Framlingham Town FC.
