Accident in Ipswich caused half hour delays on the Peninsula

Traffic was bumper to bumper along the A137

Motorists trying to get into the town from the peninsula faced delays of more than half an hour this morning.

An accident close to the Novotel in the centre of Ipswich led to delays along the A137, B1456 and onto the Wherstead Road, from 07.30 and traffic was still snarled up at 09.30.

The first confirmed case of Coronavirus is understood to be being treated at a Suffolk hospital.

Officials have confirmed the person affected has recently returned from a trip to Italy but would not say where the patient lives.

Former Babergh council chamber being turned into houses

Work to build dozens of homes on former council office sites in Hadleigh will get underway this summer, council chiefs say following delays to the schemes.

Babergh District Council's old Hadleigh base in Corks Lane has planning permission for 57 new homes and had been anticipated to start at the tail end of 2019, but a report being presented to Babergh cabinet this week confirmed there had been delays.

Chelmo parish council reject climate change proposal

Chelmondiston parish council has voted against declaring a climate and ecological emergency, despite more than 80% of parishioners taking part in a survey supporting the action.

Councillors were split at the monthly meeting and chairman David Cordle had to use his casting vote, and went against the motion.
