Motorists trying to get into the town from the peninsula faced delays of more than half an hour this morning.

An accident close to the Novotel in the centre of Ipswich led to delays along the A137, B1456 and onto the Wherstead Road, from 07.30 and traffic was still snarled up at 09.30.

Vehicles were bumper to bumper as far back at Tattingstone, with some minor delays also reported along the Strand.

A car and bike collided at the junction near the hotel and emergency services attended and dealt with the traffic, which has now eased.
