Given the amazing beauty of the stunning Shotley peninsula, it is no surprise so many famous people come to the area.

However, the sighting of musical comedian Bill Bailey and news legend Sir Trevor McDonald sampling the pleasures of some of the peninsula pubs, complete with film crew in tow, had customers capturing the moments on there phones.

Nub News can now reveal why the duo were out walking, and enjoying refreshments at the Brantham Bull, Kings Head in Stutton and Pin Mill's Butt & Oyster before heading off to Dedham.

One pub goer told Nub News: "We had to take a double take and realised who it was. We didn't know why they were there, although the cameras gave us a bit of a clue.

"It was lovely to see them."

Bailey is shooting a series named. Perfect Pub Walks for a new Channel Four's More4 series, set in Suffolk, Peak District, Somerset and Dorset, along with various guests.

Paul Merton has been a previous companion, while Sir Trevor joined Bailey on the peninsula last Friday.

Bailey said: ""When you're talking to someone on a walk they're facing the same way.

"Strolling along, chatting about difficult subjects, is easier than having a sit-down chat about it."

In each of the four episodes Bill will be accompanied by a different guest and together the two men will have the time and opportunity to share wide ranging, funny and sometimes very personal conversations, on their way to the pub.

"Covering everything from history and nature to music, food and art, their talks will also see Bill and his guests discuss memories, challenges and life experiences, touching on subjects that men are sometimes reluctant to open up about."

The series is being produced by Up and Away Films, who previously made the BBC One travelogue Along The US-Mexico Border With Sue Perkins.

Sir Trevor and Bill's filming at the Butt & Oyster, comes after Ed Sheeran recording part of a music video at the pub on the banks of the River Orwell at Pin Mill.
