Holbrook Academy students returning to school tomorrow will find a new head teacher in charge after Tom Maltby unexpectedly left during the summer break.

Mr Maltby, who joined the Shotley peninsula school in September 2020, was expected to stay until at least 2024, according to Companies House.

It is understood a recruiting process for a new head teacher will take place once the current Academy Trust's governance structure is reviewed, with joining another Multi-Academy Trust a possibility.

Meanwhile, George Anstee-Parry, known as Frank, has been named as the Acting Head, with Sarah Watson made up to Acting Deputy Head.
