A group of residents who kept socially distanced during lockdown by staying on their driveways, have got together for a more intimate Queen's Platinum Jubilee street party.

The neighbours in Blake Ave, Shotley Gate gathered outside a couple of houses to enjoy each other's company, without having to shout across the road to each other, to mark Her Majesty's 70 years celebrations.

It was even more special for one resident, Geraint Pugh, who was born four years almost to the day before Queen Elizabeth II first sat on the throne, and enjoyed his birthday amid the Union bunting, with a Welsh flag fluttering in the background.

Another wore a marvellous Union flag dress, all Spice Girls, Karen Higgs is a well known actress with Shotley Drama Group and a keen royalist.,

Adults and children enjoyed the sunshine and a breeze which made seeing umbrellas in place interesting, with a barbecue and appropriate refreshments.
