Expect traffic delays as road closures affect peninsula

The storms may have passed but motorists on the Shotley peninsula are being warned about various delays.

The Street in Holbrook will be closed until Friday, 25 February, to allow Suffolk Highways to carry out essential roadworks and sewer mains works.

An 11.4-mile diversion route has been put in place while works are being carried out and is expected to add around half an hour to people's journeys.

The Orwell Bridge, will be partially closed overnight for six weeks while essential maintenance work t

Work over a six-week period, will see the replacement of the bridge's existing weather station with new technology and equipment.

The A14 will be completely closed between 8pm and 6am on weekends between junction 55 to 58.

During weekdays a lane closure will be in place between 8pm and 6am.

Meanwhile, Anglian Water will be carrying out work in Ganges Road, in Shotley Gate from Thursday, 24 February until Monday 28 February for water meter investigation and maintenance.

Motorists are warned that high tides on the Strand this week will take place during the afternoon, and early evenings for the rest of the week.
