A 16-year-old chef from Chelmondiston is looking to put her college on the map by reaching the final of a prestigious cooking competition.

Phoebe Chew, is part of a team from Suffolk New College, aiming to get to bring every together in a culinary climax for the vent at Gordon Ramsay Academy, in Woking on March 28.

She will be joined by front-of-house host Angel Bycraft and fellow chef Davide Oggero of Chefs' Whites at the college, run by Director of Service Industries, Mike Mulvihill from Shotley Gate.

The trio will take on seven other groups and secured their spot after creating a three-course menu including drinks, which was successfully submitted earlier this year for an 'intense round of judging and deliberations', which resulted in them making the final cut.

Phoebe and her team mates have been practising three times a week and the level-two professional cookery student said: "I have a passion for cooking and if we do well this would really put us on the map."

Level-three hospitality learner Angel Bycraft, 17, from Ipswich, will be making cocktails and explaining the dishes to judges.

Meanwhile, Davide Oggero, 17, a level-two professional cookery student, also from Ipswich, hoped to draw on his Italian heritage to bring the menu to life.
