Bourne Hill blocked, academy closed completely, vaccinations centres affected as more snow hits peninsula

Heavy snow showers have caused chaos on the Shotley peninsula this morning.

Stranded cars blocked Bourne Hill first this this morning, the A137 between Tattingstone and the Wherstead/A14 roundabout was partially blocked and very slow moving traffic, see live traffic updates here...

Holbrook Academy announced it would not open today, and all children would be remote learning. Although the majority of students were already studying remotely the school had stayed partially open for those youngsters of key workers, but the bad weather made it difficult for staff and students to attend safely.

Meanwhile, the Suffolk Resilience Forum, announced last night that many vaccination centres would be affected by the weather and some would not be opening for peninsula patients. Full details here...

Individual motorists have found themselves in difficulties in various back lanes on the peninsula, including Wades Lane and Ling Lane, over night.

A second amber weather warning was issued at 06.00 and will remain in place until 14.00 as snow and wind from Storm Darcy move in from Russia, which has been dubbed the Beast from the East 2, three years after the original.
