Friday's Peninsula Breakfast Briefing

By Derek Davis

12th Feb 2021 | Local News

Friday Flower Facts:

A February favourite, the red rose, is a sign of love. So, if you are in love and want to express it, you know what to give. Giving red roses came about after Aphrodite, the goddess of love. Greek mythology has it that rose bushes grew from the ground through Aphrodite's tears and the blood of her lover, Adonis. The Romans adopted the rose to signify deep love.

Conversely the yellow rose is a sign of friendship, so if you get one of these in a couple of days you know you are in the friend zone. (Or you are about to get a takeaway from the Shotley Rose)
