Vandals have attacked Chelmondiston pavilion

Fed up volunteers have vowed to get tough on vandals attacking play equipment and the pavilion in Chelmondiston.

The offenders took their lives in their hands by trying to cut through a conduit protecting live electric wires, caused damage to the roof of the pavilion and tried to destroy part of the children's play area.

A large swathe of the beautiful Shotley peninsula is within the AONB

2,000 trees and counting.

The River Stour Enhancement Project, a joint initiative between the AONB team and the Environment Agency have planted 2,000 native trees as part of work to improve the environmental conditions of the Stour and its tributaries. The project has just received a permit to deliver 45 features over more than one mile of the Brett.

Amazon coming to the area

Amazon is set to bring a huge jobs boost to the Shotley peninsula and beyond.

More than 250 jobs are likely to be created by the world's leading online deliver company at Sproughton, after Amazon confirmed it would be utilising the large warehouse space passed by Babergh planners last year.

Brantham Athletic have signed Ipswich Town goalkeeper Toby Egan on loan until the end of the season.

Under 18s keeper Egan, who has recently been on loan at Haverhill Rovers and has been been Town's Under 23s squad, is set to make his Blue Imps debut at home to Wroxham on Saturday March 7.

Babergh leader John Ward

Babergh District Council tonight approved its budget for 2020/21, including an increase in council tax, which will see £5 a year added to the bill of a Band D property.

The good news is services will not be cut, and funding and grants to local communities on the peninsula are set to increase.
