Two goals from Johnny Lee was not enough as Brantham slumped out of the Premier Cup in a 6-2 loss against Felixstowe & Walton United.
To rub salt in the wounds, former Imp George Clarke knocked in four goals in a 20 minute second half spell after returning as a substitute for the first time from a toe injury.
Youth team graduate Lee got Brantham back in the game in a tight first half, withe Seasiders going two up through an own goal and clear offside finish by Armani Schaar which was missed by the officials.
Despite going out of a second cup in four days, Brantham have much to look forward too with credible performances against higher opposition showing they can be a forces in the Thurlow Nunn League resuming for them on Saturday.
Lee said: "It was good to get the goals, but it was not enough to win this one. They were just a level above. George came on and finished us off.
"I'm looking forward to the rest of the season we have 10 points from in 12 and have had a good run in the FA Cup. We have lost to two good teams but I'm sure we will finish well this season.
"We are a small village club playing at high level we don't throw a lot of money but we do well and that shows we are a well run club.
"We have strong squad, I'm now sure how the Stowmarkets and others will do, but we have the points and we need to keep the consistency and finish strong."
Nemesis Clarke has backed Brantham to go on to better things under manager Michael Brothers, known as Bruvs.
"When I was out injured I have been able to come over to watch the boys" said Clarke. "I know some of the lads well and they are good team.
"I can see them doing well in the league and I'm hoping they can get promoted. They are in very good hands with Bruvs."
