A woman passenger has suffered a serious injury to her arm after being trapped in a car by a falling tree on Freston Hill last Friday.

The woman, who has not been named, is still in Ipswich hospital after being cut free from the vehicle during Storm Eunice.

The driver was able to escape uninjured but fire crews from Holbrook and Ipswich went to the passenger's rescue and she was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Motorists were also rescued by the emergency services on Monday during Storm Franklin when they were trapped in their cars during a high tidal surge at the Strand. Full story here
