Did you know?

The Perseid (Per-see-id) meteor shower is so-called because the meteors seem to originate from the constellation of Perseus. Astronomers call this point the meteor shower's radiant.

The Perseid meteor shower is one of the highlights of many meteor hunters' calendar due to its high hourly rate and bright meteors, caused by the Earth slamming into the debris left behind by comet 109P/Swift-Tuttle in July and August every year.

Quote of the day:

"I would rather be ashes than dust!

I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry-rot.

I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet.

The function of man is to live, not to exist.

I shall not waste my days trying to prolong them.

I shall use my time."

Jack London

Joke of the day:

Why do moon rocks taste better than earth rocks?

Because they're meteor.
