Two more die at Ipswich Hospital as UK tally tops 10,000 deaths due to Coronavirus
Another two people have died at Ipswich Hospital, it was confirmed today.
Nick Hulme, Chief Executive for East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust, said: "We can confirm that two patients, one in their 80s, and one in their 60s, both of whom had underlying health conditions, have sadly passed away at Ipswich Hospital. They had all tested positive for COVID-19."
The news came as health Secretary Matt Hancock revealed more than 10,000 people had now died in the UK, due to the virus.
The figures do not include those who have died at Care Homes, or their own homes, including those on the Shotley peninsula.
No figures are so far available for those who have tested positive for Covid-19 but have gone on to recover, which is certainly the case for some on the peninsula.
Mr Hulme also confirmed another three patients, one in their 90s, and two in their 80s, who all had underlying health conditions, have sadly passed away at Colchester Hospital.
"Our thoughts and condolences remain with the patients' families and loved ones at this difficult time," he added.
