The grand daughter of Geoffrey Berners was among the visitors at the 250th anniversary exhibition display at Woolverstone today.

Nearly 100 people visited the free exhibition and talks organised by author and historian Simon Pearce, at Berners Hall to make the 250th anniversary of the Berners family, that have been so influential on the peninsula for centuries.

Visitors included a member of the Berners dynasty who travelled up from Oxfordshire.

Mr Pearce said: "It was wonderful to see her, and others who travelled from other parts of the county.

"There was a lady from Milton Keynes who bumped into an old school friend while at the exhibition.

"I'm delighted so many people listed on the first day and I hope even more turn up tomorrow (Sunday)"

The superbly presented exhibition tells the story of the influential family going back through the ages and how they have influenced a number of buildings on the peninsula.

This includes Woolverstone Hall, St Michael's Church, the villages' village hall and much of the farmland.

It explains the significance of the family's crest, the monks, which can be found on various homes on the peninsula and the history of Freston Town, cat House and more.

The free exhibition is open to all at Bernes Hall, with car parking in an adjoining field and is open between 10am to 4pm.
