Sprint and Queen of the Mountain details as peninsula's part in prestigious bike race revealed

Hundreds of people of all ages are anticipated to turn out to watch one of the world's most prestigious cycle races come to the Shotley peninsula.
School children will be among spectators lining the route as the first stage Women's Tour heads through the southern part of the peninsula at lunchtime on Monday, June 6.
This is the seventh time the Suffolk has hosted a stage of the race which is part of the prestigious UCI Women's World Tour series, and has seen the likes of which has been won by the likes of Marianne Vos (2014), Lizzie Deignan (2016 and 2019) and Coryn Labecki (2018), and attracts an annual roadside audience of 300,000 fans.
The 88.4 mile (142.1km) race race sets off from Colchester at 11am and and comes onto the Shotley peninsula as it crosses the Essex - Suffolk border from Manningtree to Cattawade.
Dozens of the world's best riders will compete for points as they tackle the Queen of the Mountain at Brantham before turning off the A137 at the Bull at Brantham junction.
They will make their way downhill to Stutton, going right past the Kings Head and Stutton Primary School before winding up for the sprint past the Alton Water entrance and along the long straight in front of the Royal Hospital School.
Another downhill section takes them to Holbrook, a short walk from The Swan, and the tour heads for the Freston junction.
Turning left at the Boot, the cyclists will relish the swift decent down Freston Hill then along the picturesque Strand.
The Outlook, at Fox's Marina will be open for tea, coffee, cake lunches before or after witnessing the spectacle between 12pm -1.00pm.
After turning left at Bourne Bridge the cyclists will tackle the hill, head back along the A137, turning down the slip road towards Tattingstone and past the White Horse,
Another straight bit across Alton reservoir's Lemon's Hill bridge and the women will turn right past the church to the crossroads at the Wheatsheaf and across heading towards Bentley.
Racers will head through Hadleigh and Bildeston (twice) before going to the finish in Bury St Edmunds, estimated to end at 2pm.
Road closures and diversions will be in place along the whole route between 10am and 2.00pm on the day.
