Access across the lock gates at Shotley marina has been fully reopened following a delayed restart.

The annual maintenance work has been completed after a an enforced halt due to appalling weather, a deep freeze and pretty but unhelpful snowfall.

The path along the foreshore is still muddy due to the rainfall, and heavy use and walkers are warned to wear good footwear and take care.

Work on strengthening the shore defaces has also taken place but the public are advised even though the beach is technically probate property, it will remain open for family use and the occasional angler.
