Shipwreck bosses Alex and Janey have outlined their plans for reopening the bar, restaurant and bed and breakfast rooms and are looking forward to welcoming customers, sunshine and new staff ahead of the summer season.

While the Shipwreck is currently only open for takeaways over the weekends, the bar will open on Wednesday April 14 to make full use of their large outside seating area over looking the Orwell/Stour estuary and the ports of Harwich and Felixstowe.

The inside bar and restaurant can open, in accordance with government guidelines on May 17, along with the bed and breakfast rooms on the first floor.

Popular events, such as the car rallies, Shotley Point Yacht Club's Open Day and the visit of the RNLI, have yet to be confirmed.

While customers are anticipated to return in droves, the long lay off has left the Shipwreck needing more staff and Janey is now recruiting.

A wide range of positions are available, from cleaners to assistant manager and kitchen porter to chef. Anyone invested should send their CV to [email protected] or pop in for a chat during opening hours.

A popular destination with day-trippers, ex-Ganges boys, and yachtsman, the Shipwreck attracts visitors from Harwich and Felixstowe using the daily ferry, which is now fully operational.

The Shipwreck is open for takeaways this Easter weekend from 11am - 4pm. Thursday to Bank Holiday Monday.
