Santa and his elves wrapped up their Christmas deliveries this morning by handing out the last of the presents to children in Shotley.

Some naughty elf had left a couple of sacks in the Shotley Rose as Santa delivered to children all across the world last night, so they returned to finish off the route this morning.

With the reindeer allowed back to the North Pole for breakfast, a special deer with antlers was used to pull the sleigh and only the hardiest of elves stayed to help Santa hand out more than 100 presents to the thrilled youngsters.

Santa told Nub News: "We did not mind coming back at all. To see the children's excited faces was wonderful. The parents seemed very pleased too."

It seems Santa makes a habit of this special delivery around all parts of Shotley, with the tradition going back decades when Mick and Ruth Giddings ran the Rose.

This year Rose bosses Sarah and Jamie also looked after Santa and the elves, and then delivered Christmas lunches to many of the elderly in Shotley.

Nub News caught up with Santa and his energetic elves, with one dancing like Prancer, and you can find more pictures by scrolling right on the top image.
