Sally Letman set to be ordained

By Derek Davis 4th Sep 2020

Sally Letman, the wife of former Holbrook Academy head teacher Dr Simon Letman, will be ordained as a deacon at a ceremony in St Edmundsbury Cathedral on Saturday.

Mrs Letman's term of discernment for her vocation and subsequent training started formally six years ago and has continued her formation as curate in charge of Capel St Mary and the Wenhams, with Reverend Canon Stephne Van Der Toorn, as her training supervisor.

The former assistant headteacher at Ipswich High School, who retired from teaching four years ago, is currently head of pastoral care at the Woolverstone school.

Due to the restrictions in place, the ordination service, which starts at 5.30pm, is limited to just 30 people and therefore not open to the public, although it will be broadcast live here... An information sheet for those needing help accessing live streams: [L]https://stedscathedral.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Accessing- Livestreams-and-FAQs.pdf[L+] can be found here.

Sally's husband, Dr Letman, died suddenly in April last year.
