An activity group for adults with disabilities, has refurbished a storage area for Ipswich Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) Group to recognise the support the charity gives them at their weekly riding sessions.

The charity covers a wide area south of the county town with a number of riders and volunteers from the Shotley Peninsula.

Wot's Up, which is based in The Meeting Place, Whitehouse, Ipswich, provides social activities, clubs and activity groups for people aged 18+ with physical and/or learning disabilities. Every week eight of its participants attend riding sessions with Ipswich RDA Group at Bentley Riding School.

The Wot's Up participants gave the RDA caravan a fresh new look after paint and tools for the work were donated by Crown Paints and the Crown Decorating Centre in Ipswich.

Ipswich RDA Group Trustee Gill Lewis, whose daughter Hannah also attends the weekly sessions, said: "The Wot's Up team have done a fantastic job and the RDA caravan, which had been looking rather tired, now looks really smart.

"They all worked extremely hard and our charity is very grateful to all those who were part of the painting group and also to Crown Paints for the very generous sponsorship of the materials."

Margaret Fortune from Wot's Up, added: "Horse-riding is a very popular activity among our participants and so we were only too pleased to be able to give something back to this valuable service. Wot's Up is very proud to support projects that help people with disabilities become more active and included in the community."

To celebrate the newly refurbished caravan some of the RDA volunteers who assist at the sessions provided refreshments to thank the riders for all the hard work.

The efforts of the Wot's Up team have also been recognised by Bentley Riding School which hosts Ipswich RDA Group.

Chief Instructor and RDA Coach Lauren Ryan said: "Inclusivity is very important to our business and hosting the Ipswich RDA Group sessions is a key part of that. It was wonderful to see the commitment the Wot's Up riders showed on this project and really demonstrates how much they value and enjoy their weekly riding activity."
