Two men escaped with very minor injuries following a collision on the A137 at Bourne Hill this afternoon.

A mini convertible and BMW crashed virtually head on alongside the ski slope at around 2pm, as the mini was driving downhill and the BMW travelling up the road.

Despite the heavy impact and serious damage to both cars, the drivers escaped unharmed.

An ambulance was called for the BMW driver as a precaution and neither cars were carrying passengers.

Two fire crews from Ipswich made the area safe and were stood down at 2.41pm.

Traffic in both directions on the hill at Wherstead was held up for approximately one hour.
