A flower grower from Harkstead was stunned to see the Queen clearly enjoying a bunch of his special Sweet Peas.

Chris Wiley, whose Sow Successful company based just outside the village, grew the unique variety.

Molli Christman handed the Queen with the posy as she visited the Peter Seabrooke Memorial Garden in a golf buggy and Chris was understandably delighted.

He said: "It's one of those things which you don't expect is ever going to happen to you.

Chris who runs Sow Beautiful in Harkstead grew the variety last year as a tribute to famed presenter and gardening columnist Peter Seabrook.

Peter died , aged 86, earlier this year but had been a big influence to 27-year-old Chis, who established his large scale flower production business ion the outskirts of the village two years ago,

Chris said: "Last year I grew sweet peas of many different varieties but on a massive commercial scale.

"This one appeared, isn't a named variety it's completely unique with lilac coloured flowers that fade to light blue and is highly scented.

"We wanted to at least say 'thank you' from me, from Peter, from everyone."
