Go, Tony, Go!, is aimed at key stage one children, and is based on Tony Hudgell, the five-year-old who walked 10km inspired by Captain Tom, despite the fact he had no legs.

This positive, and charming book is written by Sarah Kingdon-Ward as a not for profit venture, with all proceeds going to the Evelina London Children's Hospital and is available through Blue Poppy Publishing.

Although we don't have a high street as such, the Shotley peninsula is bristling with independents open for business to shoppers looking to support local traders.

As part of Nub News' commitment to our community we are delighted to bring you our virtual market, offering you a cornucopia of Christmas goodies to choose from at our Christmas market.

Take your pick from rustic wooden gift ideas, chic wax melts, and children's toys, or find out where to get your festive wreath or Christmas tree, all from local independents. Feel free to choose or just buy the lot for all your family and friends.

Our virtual market will be regularly updated as more and more traders, shops, pubs and groups, add their offerings (for FREE) for you to purchase in time for the big day.

We will also bring you the latest in What's On Events, like the Only Fools and Horse themed Christmas dinner.

In no particular oder let us tempt you with:

Red House Aromas. Literally just launched this week by two lovely ladies from the peninsula they have come up with range of wax melts that will send your senses into sensual spasms of joy. Packaged in chic, reusable and recyclable boxes these make excellent presents (and a treat for yourself).
