Peninsula Takeaway review: The Rose, Shotley

By Derek Davis

With many pubs and takeaways fighting a bitter battle just to survive the Hungry Hack has decided to try out each one of the menus we get to know about.

With a constantly changing menu, the Rose in Shotley, offers an excellent choice of takeaways, five nights a week (from Wednesday's to Sunday roasts). They also provide lunches for the Over 60s on Friday lunchtimes, which are delivered by volunteers.

Jamie lets Sarah out of the cellar to take orders for the takeaways while he does the cooking and they work well as a team.

With a teenage so to keep happy, we went for the pizza, chips, and chicken goujons option, with a large bottle of diet Coke to wash it all down with.

We chose one pepperoni and one chorizo pizza, we could have opted for Margarita but like our meat, with the chunky chips.

A good basic meal for £20, with more than enough for the two of us.

Order ahead on 787237, and Sarah will bring your meal out to a designated table near the rear entrance, and you can pay card or cash.

Check out a variety of takeaway options on our business directory, check either the Pubs or Others categories, for more options.

Add your business, whatever it is, in the Local List by using the black Nub It button.
