Suffolk County Council have an exciting opportunity for a Flood and Water Technician to join the Flood and Water Management Team, working from Endeavour House, Ipswich or hybrid working with a mix of office, home, and site.

If you have recent experience in investigating and resolving minor drainage/flooding issues and dealing with Land Drainage Act consenting and enforcement matters, then this could be for you.

The Flood and Water Technician role:

You will be required to provide a responsive service for the public and local authorities in dealing with enquiries, reported issues relating to flooding, land drainage and other water related issues countywide.

Your responsibilities as our Flood and Water Technician:

Managing your day-to-day schedule of site visits, meetings, and tasks

Investigating reported floods and surface water incidents countywide

Liaising with landowners, community representatives and councillors

Assessing applications for Land Drainage Act consents

Negotiating deliverable solutions to resolve flood and surface water issues

Monitoring improvements

Collecting and recording asset data.

As our Senior Flood and Water Technician, you will need:

Excellent communication and IT skills

To be customer orientated

To be a problem solver and solutions focused

To support others in dealing with high workloads to meet team goals.

The team

You will be based in the Flood and Water Management Team that works as the Lead Local Flood Authority with local planning authorities, developers, the Environment Agency, water companies, other partners, the public and elected representatives to reduce flood risk across Suffolk.
