Long delays as motorists trapped in heat as Orwell Bridge shut following verge fire

Motorists have been caught in delays on both sides of the Orwell Bridge after a grass verge caught light.
Fire crews from Holbrook, Ipswich, Leiston and Neeham Market initially attended just before 1.30pm.
Others from Hadleigh and Elmswell wet to another shout in the area an hour and 20 minutes later.
Police have tweeted to warn: "Emergency services are currently at the scene of a fire on the A14 near the Orwell Bridge. The road is currently closed eastbound at Wherstead from junction 56.
They added: "Due to a fire near the carriageway of the A14, the road remains closed eastbound from Wherstead junction 56 near the Orwell Bridge. Fire and police are on the scene.
"Copdock Interchange area very congested and drivers are advised to find an alternative route if possible."
Passengers have taken to social media complaining of being caught up in the delays.
