A peninsula family are to appear in full comic colour in the Beano after winning a prestigious competition.

The Millers have been named Britain Funniest Family, after winning in the Song and dance category, and then emerged as overall victors.

Katrina Miller, who was Shotley born, worked at the High School and also lived in Stutton, created a hilarious home version of Queens 'Don't Stop Us Now', along with Scott, Devon and Lola.

The four held off stiff competition from another peninsula family and others from Barry, Temple Cloud and Abingdon to scoop the title.

Shotley's Michelle Broom, husband Colin and their two children, made a comic short video of them all singing and dancing to make the top five.
