Get ready to set sail on a day of maritime excitement and community camaraderie as the Harwich RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) throws open the doors of its boat house for an eagerly anticipated Open Day on Sunday, August 27.

From 10:00am to 4:00pm, the heart of Harwich's waterfront, The Quay, will come alive with an array of engaging activities, offering an opportunity for visitors of all ages to get up close and personal with life-saving vessels, meet some of the dedicated crew, and immerse themselves in the rich maritime heritage.

Spectacular Showcase of Life-Saving Machinery:

The doors to the Harwich RNLI boat house will swing open, revealing a sight to behold - the proud lifeboats that have come to symbolise safety and hope on the open seas. Attendees will have the privilege of exploring both lifeboats, marvelling at the advanced technology and intricate engineering that make these vessels an essential lifeline for mariners in distress. Whether you're a maritime enthusiast, a curious youngster, or simply seeking an inspiring experience, the Open Day promises to offer insights into the vital work carried out by the RNLI.

Meet the crew:

Engage in conversations with the crew, learn about their training and expertise, and gain a profound appreciation for their selflessness in the face of danger. You can also find out about volunteering roles at the station, from fundraisers to lifesavers.
