A Shotley peninsula home owner has applied to build six new homes in part of their extensive garden between Country Park and Barrelman's Point.

The application made yo Babergh district council by Mr and Mrs Pack seeks outline planning permission to build the new homes off Gate Farm Road, alongside Marsh Lane.

Although the development is technically in the countryside, abuts the Conservation Area and Area of Outstanding Natural Beaty, the couple's agent Jack Wilkinson argues that the site is Immediately adjacent to established settlement; presents limited encroachment into the open countryside and is well enclosed by established mature hedgerows and trees.

Public comments about the application can be made on Babergh's planning website here.... Reference: DC/23/03900, by Friday 8 September.
