Ali is back from his extended break and the Lasan is back to a full menu and longer opening hours as from tonight.

Shotley's popular fish and chip shop, and Indian takeaway, will be open until 10pm each evening, with last orders taken at 9.45pm, apart from Tuesday's when they are closed.

Ali went to see family in Bangladesh over the festive period and during January and the Lasan was being run by son Ahmed and the chef Raju, albeit on reduced Indian food menu.

"It was important for me to get away and to see my sister in particular," said Ali. "But I missed all the customers here and can't wait to get back into the full swing of things again."

Like all businesses, the Lasan has been hit by price increases, but are keeping their prices the same for now, except for lamb dishes, which have been particularly hit by huge hikes, so an extra £1.50 has been added to those menu items.
