Holbrook Compasses have called time on the pub and will be shouting last orders for the final time on Sunday, November 15.

In a short message last night Clare Ling, Compasses manager, announced the closure and added she, Ken and Gavin would miss all their loyal customers.

The pub is owned by Punch and Nub News has approached them for comment.

A number of factors have contributed to the decision, including the coronavirus lockdown and subsequent restrictions, the lengthy roadworks before the pandemic and a failure by landlords Punch to reduce the rent when the pub was not able to operate.

They spent thousands on making as Covid safe as possible, with screens between tables, sanitisers and signage. They even introduced a bit of humour with their message to about wearing a mask. (Pictured)

Mrs Ling warned in July when they reopened that unless more people used the pub the village would lose it. Full story here...

Meanwhile, the Swan pub in Holbrook has been sold by Calvors and is due to reopen next month. More to follow on that.

Separately, another Punch pub, the White Horse in Felixstowe, which was closed down in the summer, reopened on Sunday under new management. Full story here...
