Arguably the world's most famous cargo ship has been securely tied up at the Port of Felixstowe, after arriving four months later than originally planned.

The Ever Given was anchored in the North Sea off Felixstowe overnight after arriving from Rotterdam.

She was then guided into the port by a pilot, and tug boats, which took her down the river Orwell to Trinity berth, at 4pm, and tied up alongside.

She now lays with her port side to the dock, and forward facing the Harwich Haven estuary. She will be unloaded, with her perishable load destroyed, before new containers are put on board for her onward journey

The 217,612 tonne Ever Given arrived from Rotterdam with Hamburg the next port of call when she leaves Felixstowe.

Television crews and spectators gathered at the marina early this morning and some ship watchers were confused this morning when they spotted a 400m long Evergreen ship at the docks, but that was the Ever Gentle.
