A motorist escaped serious injury this morning after a car skidded off the road in icy conditions.

Three fire crews from Ipswich, police, ambulance and the Coastguard were called to the accident between the Strand and Freston Hill at 8.30am.

There were very minor delays on the B1456 as the incident was dealt with quickly.

Emergency services issued a waning to drivers venturing out with icy roads, especially early mornings, even though air routes have been gritted.
