Coastguard crews led a rescue mission at Pin Mill to save a man trapped in a boat stuck on the mud.

Holbrook Coastguard were first on the scene at the Hard, Pin Mill, after the alarm was raised just before 4pm Saturday afternoon.

They were swiftly joined by a special mud rescue team from Felixstowe Coastguard.

Eight Suffolk Fire Rescue appliances, from Holbrook, Ipswich, Woodbridge and Bury St Edmunds, squeezed down Pin Mill Road, along with ambulances to assist in the operation.

The cold but uninjured occupant of the Cornish Crabber-type vessel, who had been caught out by the ebbing tide, was rescued from the thigh deep mud after an hour.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance as a precaution to be assessed..

Customers using the Butt & Oyster had good view of the rescue as night fell on the Hard.
