A bespoke play area near the first phase of the homes being built at Barrelmans Point, the former HMS Ganges site, have been revealed.

Wavensmere Homes applied to Babergh for the discharge of condition 14, showing they had carried out the requirement to provide details of the play area.

The drawings, provided by Kompan, show how a slide, swings, mini-assault course and glacial rock would be set in a landscaped area close to the new houses.

The play area is expected to be completed during the first quarter of next year and will be open for all children in the village, as well as the new home-owners.

Developers have factored in number of open space area throughout the development, which was granted planning permission in 2025 for 285 news homes, retail, café, office, gym, clinic, and indoor recreation.

There is also permission for a small hotel or boarding and guest house and community use of Nelson Hall to include co-working, café and indoor recreation.

Nub News last week reminded readers of developer contributions as detailed in S106 legal agreement. Full story here...
