'Climb the Ganges mast' with drone pilot's world wide coverage from Shotley Gate

Drone pilot Jeff Welch has captured what it would have felt like to climb the famous HMS Ganges mast in quick time.

Renowned for his photographs of the Ganges mast restoration, which have appeared on Nub News, Mr Welch has now produced a video which can be found on the You Tube platform for ex-Ganges boys around the world, along with their relatives and ancestors.

It takes you up and down the mast so you can clearly see the rigging, and the wooden masts, including original teak from HMS Cordelia.

Restoring the Grade II, 143ft mast, was a condition for planning permission to build 285 homes, and associated buildings at the former HMS Ganges site, which is now being marketed as Barrelman's Point.

See other legal agreements pertaining to Ganges site in ward councillor Derek Davis' report here.
