Nominations have opened for the award that recognises the amazing contributions of individuals, groups, and organisations in the Coast & Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB)

The David Wood National Landscape Award recognises the hard work and outstanding contributions by people to make the area an even better place for wildlife, communities, and visitors alike.

A large swathe of the Shotley peninsula is part of the AONB, especially the riverbanks and beaches along the Orwell and Stour.

Anyone can be put forward for the award if you believe they have made an outstanding contribution to the AONB in the following areas:

Landscape and farming

Biodiversity

Tourism

Community engagement

Outdoor education

Culture or heritage

Access to the countryside

The award is named after David Wood, the former chairman of the Coast and Heaths AONB Partnership and devoted advocate for the area.

Last year's winner was Timothy Holt-Wilson for his outstanding work towards outdoor education and for inspiring many children and adults with his enthusiasm for geology in the area.

Nominations can be madeonline. For more information on the David Wood National Landscape Award and to nominate, visit www.suffolkcoastandheaths.org/awards.
