An acclaimed live band from the Shotley peninsula is up for prestigious music award.

The Frestonians, which includes former Shotley sailing Club commodore Tom Clayton, have won through to a public vote after their song 'Midnight' made the shortlist of five for track of the Year in the NMG awards .

Tom took to social media to say: "Thanks to everybody who voted to nominate our song "Midnight" for NMG Track of the Year. We easily made it the short list of the top 5 - in fact I think we may have been at the top! This means that we have now gone forward to the public vote so it'd be REALLY great if you can vote for us again in this round. Just take the link below to our website, and follow the instructions."
