Applications invited from Shotley peninsula quiz teams to crack the Eggheads on Channel 5

By Derek Davis 3rd Oct 2021

Eggheads will start appearing at its new home tomorrow as Jeremy Vine and his team of quizzers switches to Channel 5.

Eggheads enjoyed 21 series on BBC but starts afresh on Monday October 4, although the much-loved show will continue to be fronted by broadcaster and presenter of Channel 5's daily show, Jeremy Vine.

The television and radio celebrity will soon be presenting the 2,000th show and only one team in all that time has ever managed to answer all the questions correctly - the Shotley Open Spacers. (Full story here...)

The new series is on at 6.30pm today and the producers are inviting teams to apply with filming held in Channel 5's Hammersmith studios.

The series has found a new home on the channel where Vine will be joined by some of Britain's most experienced quizzers.

One of Britain's best loved TV quizzes, the series sees amateur quizzers take on arguably the most formidable quiz team in Britain, The Eggheads - made up of some of the country's most elite quizzers in a David versus Goliath battle.

The team of challengers compete against them, across a series of hard hitting, high-brow general knowledge question rounds, with the aim of winning a cash prize. If the Eggheads win, the prize rolls over until they can be beaten.

Applications for the series are now open and teams can apply by emailing [email protected]
