A 15th person inside a month has died at Ipswich hospital due to Covid-19, it has been confirmed today.

A person in their late 50s, with underlying medical conditions, succumbed at the Heath Road hospital.

Four other patients passed away at Colchester General, which is part of the Trust that runs both hospitals.

Nick Hulme, chief executive for East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust today said: "We can confirm that sadly five patients, three in their 80's and the other in their 90's who all had underlying health conditions, have passed away at Colchester Hospital.

"One patient has passed away at Ipswich Hospital who was in their late 50's and had underlying health conditions. They had tested positive for COVID-19.

"Our thoughts and condolences remain with the patients family and loved ones at this difficult time."

The confirmation follows an admission by the Trust that 14 deaths, due to Covid-19, had not been reported in three weeks due to an administrative error.
