Holbrook Academy will have its third head teacher in as many school years when Claire Elliott takes over in September 2024.

Formerly the deputy head at Stradbroke High School in Suffolk, Mrs Elliot was appointed head teacher at Old Buckenham High School in Norfolk, which is part of the Sapientia Education Trust (Academy Trust), in June 2022.

Mrs Elliott was appointed by Holbrook Academy Trust's governors to the peninsula school in November to replace acting head George Anstee-Parry, who in turn replaced Tom Maltby in thee summer of 2023.

It has not yet been confirmed if Mr Anstee-Parry will be staying at Holbrook Academy, which was last month revealed as one of the worst performing schools in Suffolk, according to government figures focusing on exam results.

Old Buckenham High was rated as average, with a positive Progress 8 score of 0.8, using the same Department of Education data.

The Holbrook article promoted a number of negative comments from parents and students, both current and former, about the academy with concerns regarding discipline, bullying and results.

Holbrook Academy is currently without its acting deputy head teacher, who is off for medical reason and not expected to return this month.

The school, which returned fro the Christmas break on Wednesday, is currently advertising for an English teacher, science teacher, part-time music teacher, cover supervisor (degree educated) a teaching assistant

Given Holbrook Academy's well publicised shortcomings and Mrs Elliott' close connections with Sapientia Education Trust, speculation among parents about Holbrook joining another Trust has been raised.

Holbrook Academy has been approached for comment.
